Preface

This volume contains the papers presented at the of Doctoral Consortium of the
25th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering,
held on June 21, 2013, in Valencia, Spain.
The CAiSE Doctoral Consortium, now in its 20th year, brings together Ph.D.
students working on foundations, techniques, tools and applications of informa-
tion systems. It provides the students with an opportunity to present and discuss
their research to an audience of peers and senior faculty in a supportive envi-
ronment. The main goals of the Consortium are to provide:
-fruitful feedback and advice to the competitively selected Ph.D. students on
their research project
-the opportunity to meet experts from different backgrounds working on top-
ics related to the Information Systems Engineering field
-an environment within which the Ph.D. students can interact with their
peers and stimulate an exchange of ideas and suggestions among participants
-the opportunity to discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job
market, and other career-related issues
We would like to thank the Program Committee for their expert and timely
feedback on student submissions, which facilitated the competitive selection of
eight papers for presentation. We would also like to thank Prof. Sandeep Purao
(Penn State University) for his insightful and motivating keynote presentation.
The success of this event is also thanks to the CAiSE 2013 Doctoral Consortium
Faculty Mentors who dedicated their day to running sessions and providing
constructive feedback during the event. Accordingly, we would like to thank
Dr. Irit Hadar (University of Haifa), Prof. Dr. Manfred Reichert (University of
Ulm), A/Prof. Selmin Nurcan (The University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) and
Dr. Pnina Soffer (University of Haifa). Last but not least, we would like to thank
the eight Ph.D. students for their presentations and contributions on the day of
the event.
