Preface In January 2016, we had the pleasure to host the 8th edition of the ZEUS Work- shop in Vienna. This workshop series o↵ers young researchers an opportunity to present and discuss early ideas and work in progress as well as to establish contacts among young researchers. For this year’s edition, we selected 10 sub- missions by researchers from Austria, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom that were presented to 20 participants. Each submission went through a thor- ough peer-review progress and was assessed by at least three members of the program committee with regard to their relevance and scientific quality. The ac- cepted contributions covered the areas of Business Process Management (BPM), Cloud Manufacturing, Stream Processing as well as Medical Support Systems. The workshop program was enriched by the keynote on From Scientific Process Management to Process Science: Towards an empirical research agenda for Busi- ness Process Management by Jan Mendling, who presented the current scientific state of research in the BPM community and outlined open research areas.
