      <p>Abstract. Development companies in the field of measurement
devices often miss unified, complete and linked digital descriptions of
their products. Islands of information which describe one certain
aspect created on specific tools (e.g., CAD, manuals, documents etc.)
exist as isolated entities. Detached organizational structures and
development engineers sticking to established procedures of working
decrease the innovation factor.</p>
      <p>A project is present which actively focuses on overcoming the
barriers described utilizing a bottom up approach involving the relevant
developers and deciders, keeping in mind the relevant human factors.
The result is the creation of knowledge based on creating and linking
available information at a central Single Source of Truth.</p>
