This volume contains the papers presented at AI*AAL 2017, the Third Italian
Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Ambient Assisted Living
(http://aiia2017.istc.cnr.it/), held within the XVI International Conference of
the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA 2017), in Genoa, Italy,
on November 16th and 17th, 2017.

The aim of this series of workshop is to bring together researchers interested in
different aspects of Artificial Intelligence for Ambient Assisted Living.
The working group “AI and Ageing Society” has previously organized several
Workshops on Technological Challenges and Scenarios for the Ageing Society
in Brescia, Palermo, and Torino to discuss about technological roles and
opportunities for Artificial Intelligence in the Ageing Society domain.
Capitalizing from these activities, the group is trying to establish a stable forum
on the topic. The Third Edition of the Italian Workshop on Artificial
Intelligence (AI) for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) has the goal of collecting
contributions, ideas and new scientific and technological scenarios, as well as
to discuss and disseminate results on Artificial Intelligence for Ambient
Assisted Living.

This year, each paper was reviewed by three members of the Program
Committee of the Workshop, and on the basis of their recommendations, 8
manuscripts have been selected for publication and presentation at AI*AAL.it
2017.

This year the workshop featured, as invited speaker, the valuable participation
of Eloisa Vargiu, manager of the Integrated Continuous Care research line at
the eHealth R&D&I Unit of EURECAT (Spain).

We thank all the members of the AI*AAL Program Committee for their effort
in the review process that was fundamental for maintaining the high scientific
level of the workshop. We thank the AI*IA council, who trusted us to organize
AI*AAL.it 2017, and all the researchers of the AI and AAL community who
supported this event by submitting their work and actively participating in it.
