These proceedings contain the papers of the Second International Workshop on Recent Trends in News Information Retrieval (NewsIR'18) held in conjunction with the ECIR 2018 conference in Grenoble, France, on the 26th of March 2018. Seven full papers and ve short papers were selected by the programme committee from a total of 19 submissions. Each submitted paper was reviewed by at least three members of an international programme committee. In addition to the selected papers, the workshop features two keynote speeches.
