This volume "Russian Advances in Arti cial Intelligence (RAAI-2020)" contains the papers on Arti cial Intelligence presented at CAICS 2020: National Congress on Cognitive Research, Arti cial Intelligence and Neuroinformatics held in October 2020 in Moscow. There were 132 submissions. Each submission was reviewed by at least 3, and on the average 3.2, program committee members. The committee decided to accept 27 papers. The program also included 5 invited talks. We would like to dedicate this volume to the memory of our colleagues who passed away last year: Gennady S. Osipov, Vladimir E. Pavlovsky, Dmitry A. Pospelov, and Vadim N. Vagin. Gennady Osipov was the second president of RAAI in 1996-2020, he made considerable contributions in a wide range of topics, including cognitive modelling, semantic analysis, knowledge management, intelligent dynamic systems. Vladimir Pavlovsky was a famous expert in robotics and mecahtronics. Dmitry Pospelov was a famous Russian scientist and AI enthusiast, in 1988 he started the National Conference on Arti cial Intelligence (RCAI) and in 1989 he founded the Soviet (Russian since 1992) Association for Arti cial Intelligence, RAAI. He was the rst president of RAAI in 1989-1996. Vadim Vagin was a famous Russian expert on plausible reasoning and distributed computations for plausible reasoning. Gennady S. Osipov, Vladimir E. Pavlovsky, Dmitry A. Pospelov, and Vadim N. Vagin were members of the Russian Association for Arti cial Intelligence for long time and contributed a lot to advancement of AI in Russian.
