Preface by the PNSE’2020 Organisers These are the proceedings of the International Workshop on Petri Nets and Software Engineering (PNSE’2020) to be held at June 24, 2020. The workshop is co-located with 41st International Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets and Concurrency (PETRI NETS 2020) in Paris, France. The workshop emphasizes on the impact of software engineering in general and its development based on Petri nets. Therefore we have espe- cially invited contributions that work on subjects that could be relevant for Petri nets, their application, supporting tools, etc. Results on other formalisms or semi-formal techniques are highly welcome. More informa- tion about the workshop can be found at: http://www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/TGI/events/pnse20/ But then, during the organisation phase in early 2020, covid-19 took over. The organisers of PNSE decided to finalise the reviewing process as normal as possible. However, the workshop itself is now organised as a virtual meeting of the main conference, which is virtual as well. Overall we received 24 contributions for these proceedings. Each paper was reviewed by at least three referees. During the reviewing process the program comittee selected 13 contributions for publication. The program now consists of six papers that are chosen for a long and seven for a short presentation. The proceedings also contains the extended abstracts for the poster contributions. The international program committee of PNSE20 was supported by the valued work of Artur Niewiadomski, Manuela Dalibor, Teofil Sidoruk, Louis Wachtmeister, and Jörg Christian Kirchhof as additional reviewers. Their valuable work is highly appreciated. Furthermore, we would like to thank our colleagues in the local orga- nization team for their support – especially for serving a wonderful virtual coffee in the breaks.
