      <title>Preface</title>
      <p>These are the proceedings of the seventh Linguistic and Cognitive Approaches to
Dialog Agents (LaCATODA 2021), which was held online on August 21, 2021 as a
part of the 30th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI
2021). Nine papers were submitted to the workshop of which six were accepted (four
long and two short) to be presented during the workshop. The submissions were
reviewed by at least two members of the program committee. One paper has been
withdrawn therefore we decided to organize an additional invited event — except an
invited keynote, we also organized an invited lecture as a mini tutorial for all
participants interested in more practical side of building dialog systems.</p>
      <p>This workshop was the seventh edition of the LaCATODA series. The two first
editions were organized as symposia of the AISB/IACAP conferences in United
Kingdom: the first one in 2010 in Leicester, and the second one in Birmingham.
From the third edition we have been co-located with the prestigious IJCAI
conference: in Melbourne (2017), Stockholm (2018), Macao (2019). Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 and 2021 workshops were moved from Kyoto and
Montreal to online venues.</p>
      <p>We would like to thank all authors who submitted papers, and the program
committee members for their efforts.</p>
