Proceedings

On 13 September 2019, the Italian community working on topics related to
Business Process Management (BPM) gathered “under the same roof” for the
ifrst time. The BPMItaly Community was founded at the University of Bologna,
and organized by inviting the groups that were known to have worked on BPM
in the last years. In the end, more than 40 people from 20 research nodes all
over Italy joined the meeting.

It was decided to experiment future editions as a conference-style system
open to contributions, to provide a reference discussion forum for the Italian
BPM community. The forum aims to foster discussion among researchers as
well as their interaction with industry and public administration about recent
trends, experiences, applications and opportunities of cooperation.

In 2020 the planned first Forum was canceled due to the COVID pandemics.

The first ITalian forum on Business Process Management (ITBPM 2021) was
then held on Friday 10t September 2021, colocated with the 19th International
Conference of Business Process Management (BPM 2021) in Rome, in a mixed
mode (in person or online).

Other than the 12 technical contributions in this volume, it featured an
Industrial Panel on Operation Management in the Health domain, with
participants from 4 italian hospitals, and an Industry Corner with three Italian
companies presenting their BPM solutions.
