      <abstract>
        <p>The 41 International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER'2022) was held online between October 17 and 20, 2022. The PhD Symposium of ER'2022 was organized to provide a platform for PhD research scholars who are in a fairly advanced stage of their PhD program, to present their thesis proposals for expert feedback. The call attracted three submissions from Italy, India, and Austria. All submissions were reviewed by at least three reviewers from the program committee which represented nine countries. All three proposals were accepted as a result of the review. The thesis proposal by Mayukh Bagchi presents a diversity-aware approach for creation of domain ontological models. The thesis presents a foundational knowledge model for explicating static and dynamic ontological representations of concepts, that make them amenable for extension and reuse in diverse domain-specific scenarios. Pooja Bassin presented a proposal to design a “Policy Support System” to manage policy interventions towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Diferent SDG indicators are represented in the form of Bayesian Networks, and a policy intervention is modeled as a conditioning of one or more upstream variables. Syed Junaid Ali presented a proposal to aid searching of conceptual models using Knowledge Graphs. The primary objective is to encourage reuse of conceptual models by supporting them with a reasoning-based search mechanism, which is based on Knowledge Graphs. The PhD Symposium enabled the authors of these three proposals to not only present their work in an oral presentation, but also separately interact with a panel of experts for critical feedback and directions. We want to thank the three candidates for preparing, submitting, and presenting their PhD projects at ER'2022. Moreover, we are very grateful to the program committee for reviewing the initial submissions and being available for individual discussions and feedback to the PhD students. Finally, we wish to thank the general chairs of ER'2022, Manfred Jeusfeld and Kamalakar Karlapalem, for their great support.</p>
