Preface
LWDA 2022 is a joint conference of several special interest groups of the German Computer Sci-
ence Society (GI), addressing research in the areas of knowledge discovery and machine learning,
information retrieval, database systems, business intelligence, and knowledge management. The
German acronym LWDA stands for ”Lernen, Wissen, Daten, Analysen” (Learning, Knowledge,
Data, Analysis). Following the tradition of the last years, LWDA 2022 provides a joint forum
for experienced and young researchers to bring insights into recent trends, technologies, and
applications. In addition, another conference goal is to promote interaction among the special
interest groups. This year, the following special interest groups participate at LWDA 2022:

    • FGDB (Database Systems)
    • FGKDML (Knowledge Discovery, Data Mining, and Machine Learning)
    • FGWM (Knowledge Management)

The special interest groups FGBIA (Business Intelligence and Analytics) and FGIR (Informa-
tion Retrieval) are not able to participate this year, but hopefully will again at future LWDA
conferences. The LWDA 2022 is held in attendance at the University of Hildesheim and the
attendance of numerous participants is a great contribution to the goal of interaction among
the special interest groups after the digital conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The papers of the individual workshops are peer-reviewed and selected by independent
program committees from the respective domains. The committees decide to accept 25 (full and
short) research papers for the inclusion in the proceedings. The program consists of several
joint sessions which include contributions of interest for all conference participants. In addition,
there are parallel sessions for individual workshops focussing on more specific topics of the
special interest groups.
Recent trends in the corresponding research areas are highlighted by four distinguished
keynote speakers:

    • Zoi Kadoui, Technial University Berlin
    • Carsten Binning, Technical University Darmstadt
    • Andreas Hotho, University of Würzburg
    • Catarina Pinto Moreira, Queensland University of Technology

The organizers would like to thank the workshop chairs and their program committees for
their excellent work as well as the keynote speakers for their contribution to the success of the
LWDA 2022. We hope that LWDA 2022 is an inspiring event for all participants with lots of
scientific and social exchange and discussions.
