        <article-title>This is the 14th edition of the Forum for Information Retrieval Evaluation (FIRE 2022). Continuing the tradition of the last 13 years, the evaluation tracks at FIRE have expanded to encompass new domains and new languages. With seven evaluation tracks and participation from over 60 teams, this is one of the biggest FIRE workshops to date.</article-title>

      <abstract>
        <p>This year FIRE realized an interesting mix of tasks from IR/NLP viz. anaphora resolution, retrieval, sentiment analysis, summarization on different kinds of datasets like social media, legal text etc. in different languages including English, Urdu, Dravidian, Indo-Aryan etc. Like previous year, this year too a special focus was on social media analysis, with five out of the seven tracks focusing specifically on issues and challenges related to social media. Hate Speech and Offensive Content Identification in Indo-European Languages (HASOC), focused on identifying various categories of hate speech from social media posts. Information Retrieval from Microblogs during Disasters (IRMiDis) track focussed on automatic stance classification and symptom reporting tasks on COVID-19 tweet dataset. These tracks were continued from last year with different problem statements. In 2022, new interesting tracks were introduced. The track Anaphora Resolution from Social Media Text in Indian Languages (SocAnaRes-IL 2022) aimed at identifying other discourse elements such as connectives along with anaphora on Indian language text from various social media text such as Facebook, Twitter, Chat conversations etc. The track Emotions &amp; Threat Detection in Urdu (EmoThreat) offered emotion classification and threatening language detection tasks on social media text. Indian Language Summarization (ILSUM) aimed to create reusable corpora for Indian Language Summarization in two languages, Hindi and Gujarati. Information Retrieval in Software Engineering (IRSE) offered a task on classification of source code. Finally, the Sentiment Analysis and Homophobia detection of YouTube comments in Code-Mixed Dravidian Languages track aimed at sentiment detection of code-mixed text in Dravidian languages (Tamil-English, Malayalam-English, and Kannada-English) and identification of homophobia, transphobia, and non-anti-LGBT+ content from the given corpus in English, Malayalam, and Tamil. The tracks, in general, received good and uniform participation from many research groups. We express our gratitude to all the track organizers for their efforts in organizing these tracks, as well as to the participants for their enthusiastic participation. A special thanks to our sponsor 'ACM SIGIR Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval' the continued support.</p>
