      <abstract>
        <p>This volume contains the papers presented at the 5th Symposium of the Norwegian AI Society (NAIS 2023)1, held during June 14-15, 2023, at the Department of Information Science and As with previous installments of NAIS, the focus of the symposium was AI broadly conceived, including but not limited to the following topics: machine learning, knowledge representation, robotics, planning and scheduling, natural language processing, computer vision, search algorithms, multi-agent systems, industrial applications, and philosophical and ethical foundations. We received 16 full and short paper submissions, and each paper was reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee. Out of 16 submissions, the committee decided to accept 10 papers, 8 full and 2 short papers. These were presented in three technical sessions, two on Wednesday June 14th, and one on Thursday June 15th.</p>
