<abstract>

The goal of the workshop is to establish a forum for researchers and professionals interested in understanding, envisioning, and discussing the challenges and opportunities of AI awareness by promoting Education on Artificial Intelligence. Possible initiatives include, but are not limited to, the introduction of new methodologies, educational pathways, and AI literacy educational activities. This workshop aims to establish an annual event, bringing together researchers and practitioners, strengthen collaborations and discussing advancement in the area as well as new challenges and opportunities.

1. Preface

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has become pervasive in everyday life in many diferent
environments (homes, ofices, cities, etc). The availability of intuitive and easy-to-use software tools, libraries,
and technologies also opened the use of AI-based solutions to untrained people, whose background
is often far from an understanding of algorithms, leaving room for far-fetched intuitions. As a result,
everyone comes into contact with such technologies, from children to elderly people, who are generally
very attracted to them. However, these solutions can be an opportunity and also a threat if not properly
understood and managed. Promoting awareness of the mechanisms, opportunities, and weaknesses of
AI is a right of people, and it is crucial to equip them so that they can take advantage of it and not be
unconsciously controlled by it.

The goal of this workshop is to establish a forum for researchers and professionals interested in
understanding, envisioning, and discussing the challenges and opportunities of AI awareness by
promoting education for Artificial Intelligence, promoting aspects such as methodologies, educational
pathways, and AI literacy.

The topics of interest for edu4AI were:
• Challenges and Opportunities in Education for AI.
• Leveraging online platforms for widespread AI Education.

• Innovative Education Techniques and methodologies to support AI Education.

• Hands-on research initiatives to support AI awareness and comprehension.
• Program development for Educators.
• Resources and techniques to explain AI in simple terms.
• AI Literacy kits and educational games.
• Educational tools and resources for correcting AI misconceptions.
• Case studies on AI Literacy courses for elderly people.
• Domain-specific threats due to AI biases and educational solutions to overcome them.
• Education on AI-Ethical aspects.
• Training programs to convey AI awareness.

• Teaching Methodologies.

Research and reports on the practical applications of the above topics in domain-specific contexts (such
as in healthcare, K-12 and higher education systems, finance, Lifelong Learning, Adult Education, and
such like) were encouraged.

edu4AI accepted thirteen contributions.
