<abstract>

This preface is the preface to the joint proceedings of FOIS 2025 Demonstrations and showcase tracks and the early career symposium. The FOIS Satellite Events are a recurring feature of the International Conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS) conference series, including its 15th instalment in 2025, held in Catania, Italy, from 10 to 12 September 2025. Also this year, the satellite events consisted of a Showcase track, a Demo track, the Early Career Symposium, and an Industry track. Especially the Showcase and Demo tracks have been growing and maturing over the years, and from abstracts and short papers to full-length papers. In this year's respective editions, they are all full papers. Therefore, they are combined now in a separate FOIS Satellite Events volume (cf. appended to the JOWO proceedings). The remainder of this preface describes pertinent details of the Showcase, Demos, and ECS. The ontology showcase is a practical track aimed at stimulating the community to provide and receive feedback on ontologies and their development processes. The 2025 edition, chaired by Asiyah Yu Lin and Veruska Zamborlini, received eight submissions covering diverse domains such as Bioinformatics, Education, Social Media, Digital Twins and complex representation issues including Fuzziness and Variation, out of which five were accepted. The review process was single-blind, in which each submission received at least three reviews and feedback from the twelve-member program committee. We thank the authors for their contributions, the program committee for their thorough evaluations, and the FOIS 2025 organizers for their support. The Demonstrations 2025 track was chaired by Henriette Harmse and Daniel Garijo. The track received four contributions, each receiving at least two reviews in a single-blind process. In the end, three papers were accepted, thanks to the reviews and feedback from the six members of the program committee and the track chairs. The main purpose of the Early Career Symposium (ECS) is to provide a dedicated space for PhD students and early career researchers to present their research projects and to discuss their ideas and future directions with experienced researchers and industry professionals. next generations of researchers and innovators for the field of formal ontology in information systems.

This year’s ECS is chaired by Greta Adamo and Paweł Garbacz. The 2025 ECS followed the steps
of the 2024 edition by ofering a 3-layer format, consisting of (i) a Mentoring Lunch, (ii) a Fast-Talk
Session (“pitch”) and (iii) a Poster Session. The four research projects that have been accepted at the
ECS span diferent domain applications in formal ontologies. We are thankful to the FOIS organisation
and mentors for facilitating this unique and exciting conference track to take form.
