        <p>Variability modeling has been performed for many years. Notations for Feature Diagrams have been suggested and enhanced, but no standardization has occurred. This means that di erent tools use their proprietary dialects and one cannot expect interoperability. The MoSiS project (an ITEA project) has had as ambition to provide the base for standardizing a Common Variability Language. We have provided a prototype language de nition and tool demonstrator. More importantly, we have argued in the OMG (Object Management Group) that variability modeling should be standardized and that the OMG should be the home for this. We drafted an RFP (Request for Proposals) and this was issued by the OMG in December 2009. \The objective of the RFP is to enable the speci cation of the variability in product line models in order to support seamless product line modeling across the whole product line engineering process. The CVL RFP requests a speci cation language including a metamodel, semantics and concrete syntax for variability speci cation." (from the RFP) The talk will show the MoSiS CVL prototype, and give insight into the work in OMG where we now have established a forceful consortium with vendors as well as strong academic competence.</p>
