Preface I-SEMANTICS 2012 was the eighth edition of the International Conference on Semantic Systems. The conference provides a forum for the exchange of latest scientific results in topics such as Semantic Technologies, Semantic Web, and Linked Data. It has become a major event in the field, attracting more than 400 participants every year. As a conference that aims to bring together science and industry, I-SEMANTICS encourages scientific research and application-oriented contributions. As in previous years, the eighth edition of I-SEMANTICS took place in Graz, Austria, in early September. The I-SEMANTICS Posters & Demonstrations Track complements the main conference track. It provides an opportunity to present late-breaking research results, smaller contributions, and innovative work in progress. It gives conference attendees the possibility to learn about on-going work and encourages discussions between researchers and practitioners in the field. For presenters, it provides an excellent opportunity to obtain feedback from peers. For the first time, the Posters & Demonstrations Track had a separate call for contributions and reviewing process this year. A total of 23 papers were submitted to the track, each sent for review to three members of the program committee. Based on the reviews, we selected twelve posters and demos for presentation at the conference. The papers to these twelve contributions are included in the proceedings. We thank all authors for their contributions and the program committee and additional reviewers for their valuable work in reviewing the submissions. We are also grateful to the staff of the Know-Center and Messe Congress Graz who supported us in the local organization of this track.
